Thank you Ian and Cath for running the SGT Rap. The Year 4's really enjoyed the experience.

Blogging is so much better than emailing for the participants' access to other schools' ideas.

Hi Bloggers,

Blogging was a new experience for us and it was so easy to read everyone's blogs. (Much better than emailing).

Our healthy changes are
* trying to cut out bad snacks and only have them for special occasions.
* eating fruit as a snack
* choosing water instead of fizzy drinks or fruit juice
* walk to school with friends
* no honey on Weetbix
* Playstation in the morning and playing outside in afternoon
* joining sporting groups like summer soccer, little aths, cricket, basketball, netball, dance and swimming.

Highlights
* Reading "SGT", which was fun-ee, with my friends
* Posting to the blog
* Reading about what other schools think and do
* Some of the other sports reports were really funny
* Enjoyed co-operating together

Bye from,
Glenhavensprinters.

Hi all,

On Friday, I selected a variety of extracts from my groups' rap responses (sports articles, a few photos, a wrap rap up message) and combined them as a mini-newspaper (double-sided A4, folding down to make a simple four-paged booklet of The Shaggy Penrith Times), which will slip inside our school newsletter tomorrow. Price = three carrots.

The back cover of the booklet explains the educational parameters of this rap, shows a frame grab from the blog, and gives URLs for both the NSW DET rap blog site, and our own Penrith PS Library wiki pages, encouraging our parents and caregivers to look at the students' work online.

It didn't take me very long - but a wombat probably could have done it faster. An efficient way of communicating with the parents, and giving them access to further information!

A brochure that came out to promote "National Reading Day - 3 September 2008" suggested doing something similar online, or in hardcopy, and that was always in the back of my mind as we added things to the school wiki pages, but it's only now the rap is over I found time to dig back through the archives. Of course, schools needed to have registered between 3rd and 7th September, when we were all deep into the rap! Maybe next year?

Nowra Rappers 4/5 D
The moxing batch of the century

In one corner we have Itsy Bitsy Spider and in the other corner we have Fire Fly, the light weight champion from the last Bolympics.

The trainers polished up the gloves - all 14 of them and they are ready to spart. Fly comes out of his corner firing on all six cylinders and does a quick jab and cross, knocking one of the spider's legs off - we are now down to 13 gloves. Uh oh unlucky number.

Spider comes back with a ping and crunch, sends fly onto the mat. Spider's time to try out his secret "weabon" - web and munch. The fly is trapped! A perfect lunch for the new lightweight champion - gloves and all.

He raises his 7 pegs in victory and the crowd goes child!!!!!

But wait - the spider feels a jumble in his tummy! He leans over! He burps and out flies Fire Fly. "I'm ready for a re-catch."

Watch this space for the next round.

SPORT
With special reporter- Elephant Dung of 5K

GAME - Soccer
TIME - 12:00 pm Night time!
SCORE - Cheetahs 0 vs Ducks 1
PLACE - Silly Chilly
WEATHER - Snowing and blowing

And it’s a thrilling game of soccer here at Silly Chilly. What’s this? The Cheetahs are eating on the job. Now we have only 6 ducks left!

And it’s coming down to the Ducks. They’re running and they’re passing the ball. NO!!!!!!!!

At the other end of the field, the Cheetahs have eaten FIVE ducks. It’s now down to the one last remaining duck.

He snaps. He quacks. And he scores!

Wow, quack, snap, the crowd roars.

As the Cheetah sneaks up on the victor and, gulp, gobbles him up as a post-game snack. Oh well, that is the end of the Ducks team.

Nowra Rappers 4T
We bring you the news as it hoppins!

4T Chomps versus the ARL coaches

Every Tuesday Nat and Trent, who are two ARL coaches from the Mighty Dragons, came to our school to train our class on the back oval. We were splat into 2 groups and then we swapped activities at half time.

Nat's group practised passing, grubber sticks and scoring pies. Trent's group played bull kicking, bull-rush and Star Wars. Don't ask us why it was called Star Wars - we don't really know either!

The final score was that 4T won by 50 points. I think we mashed those two potatoes!

Nowra rappers 4R

An unordinary mythical game of Notball
Reporters: Dragon Breath

On Saturday night the game was played at the Hogcawts Notball arena. No stourt lights were needed because the Pegasus Unicorns had their own (on their horns). The opposing team were The Griffens (for those who don't know they are half eagle, half lion).

The Pegasus team had no trouble carrying the ball to the goal end with the ball stuck on their horns. S(p)oon they had spored 7 goals with 12 notballs replaced because they were popped. The Griffens were not seen flapping their wings after each goal. Shame, not good sports!!

The Pegasus team were so discus-tarded that they switched off their lights and went home.

Great game by the Pegasus team. We can't wait until the rematch.

Well done Normorappers and The Fullysickids from Blaxcell Street Public School. The sports reports about Michael P. Helps (very p[f]unny) and Matthew Mitcham are well structured and informative. Thank you.

The Blaxcell Street Public School athletics carnival must have been an exciting day. After reading your article, I almost felt that I was present. Interviewing the school principal is a great idea and an effective piece of journalism.

Great effort! :)
