We are the Frog Rappers and we are going to hop right into the facts we have learned about the Beijing Olympics.

* In 393 B.C the Ancient Olympics Games were banned

* Australia has been to every modern Olympic Games

* In 2004 at Athens we won 17 gold, 16 silver and 16 bronze.

* In 1900 women were first allowed to compete in modern Olympic Games

Thanks for hopping your way into our facts.

Hey, we're Sullies peeps!

We've been busy researching the 29th Olympiad. Stage One and Early Stage One held their very own mini-Olympics. Last week we held our Year 6 fundraising stalls and we raised over $1000 for our Year 6 farewell.

These are the facts that we found out about the 2008 Olympic games:

* 17600 athletes and officials stayed at the Olympic village during the Olympics

* 100 000 volunteers were needed for the Games, 450 000 people applied

* The theme at the 2008 Olympic Games was the "Green Olympics".

* 31 sports venues were based in Beijing with 5 outside the city.

Truly these Olympic games were one of the most spectacular events ever held!!!

Hope you enjoyed these facts and will remember these games for a long time too.

Four facts we learnt this year from the Olympics are:

*The Beijing Olympics were the 29th Olympiad

*The mascots together say "Beijing welcomes you"

*The torch is made out of aluminium

*The host country can enter every event.

We really enjoyed the Beijing Olympics this year and we learnt heaps from it.

Hey what's up? We are the parkrappers2.

Our 4 interesting facts are
1: In swimming the swimmer in lane 4 was the fastest qualifier in the heat.
2: At the Beijing Olympics it was the first ever sell out of Olympic tickets.
3: The last Olympic gold medals that were made entirely out of gold were awarded in 1912.
4: America won the 400m men's relay at the Beijing Olympics after battling out the Australians for 4 years.

Being healthy means
: Good diet/meals
: Exercise/meals
: Drink lots of water
: Eat fruit and vegetables.

Comments on Rap Point 1:
3/4S rappers at Thornleigh West noticed that at the Olympics, Australia came 6th in the medal tally. This year was the last chance to watch some sports compete, while for the first time we watched new sports. The rules seemed harder and athletes needed to be in top condition. We also didn’t know that some countries existed until we saw their results.

Our class also discussed that being healthy just isn’t about eating healthy food, you have to be physically active as well. You need to think about the choices you make. A healthy person has a self positive self image, is well rested and has a balance in activities.

What is healthy?

5/6K agrees with the statement. We believe that balance is the key to a healthy lifestyle. This means eating healthy most of the time but occasionally having treats. This balance we think also applies to physical activity. We think it is important to stay active by playing a sport, going for a walk, going to the park with the family or walking the dog and doing these kinds of things regularly.

It is also important to remember that different things work for different people. We must do what works for us and make being healthy a lifestyle not an event.

We all agree that being healthy means that you need to eat healthy everyday, by eating at least two pieces of fruit and three vegtables. You also must drink alot of water everyday instead of sweet drinks. Breakfast is very important to being healthy.

Exercise is also important. Playing ruby, skipping, tips and etc at school during recesss and lunch is great. If you and your family can walk to school and play at the park on weekends that is also healthy. You don't need to do a team sport to be doing healthy excercise.

People that are very skinny are not healthy. People who are very fat aren't healthy also. Being in between is best.

Mrs. Afonso's Stage 2/3 group found the following 4 facts interesting.

Fact 1: There are 205 countries competing in the Beijing Olympics events.
Fact 2: The Beijing Olympics started 8/8/08 because 8 is their lucky number.
Fact 3: The Olympics is on every four years and the next Olympic game is in 2012, during Summer in London. The Beijing 2008 Olympics game is the 29th Olympiad.
Fact 4: Michael Phelps won 10 gold medals in these Olympics.

Hello from Colyton rappers,

Our four interesting things that we have learnt about the Olympic games are:
1. There are interesting Olympic buildings for the competition such as the Birds nest and the Water cube.
2. Up to 19/8/08 Australia has won 11 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze medals.
3. China had very high expectations that Li Xien would win his hurdle event but he had an injury and pulled out of the race.
4. We learnt from the Opening Ceremony that the Chinese invented paper, the wheelbarrow, gunpowder and movable type.

We think being healthy is good because you feel good. But sometimes we think healthy food doesn’t taste as nice as unhealthy, so it’s ok to have junk food once in a while. We think moderate exercise is good. You don’t have to train every day.

Happy Rapping from Colyton 4/5D
